Using census, deed and marriage records, I finally have a chronology for my Thomas J. PIERCE. I know he was born in KY, but I can't find which county. I'd love to hear from anyone with a connection of any kind. His name was mistranscribed from the 1870 census as "L." J. PIERCE. It should be T. J. PIERCE. Maybe Thomas Jefferson or Thomas James.
1822-25 Thomas J. PIERCE born in KY
1849 KY: T. J.'s son James M. PIERCE born KY. In 1868 St. Clair County, MO, James will marry Catherine RYAN daughter of John RYAN of VA>IN. Catherine lives with relatives--Raleigh LEWELLEN family of Indiana>St. Clair Co., MO--from age 3 until her marriage.
1855 KY: T. J.'s daughter Rachel PIERCE born KY. She will later marry Marion E. ALLRED in Barry County, MO. T. J. lives just four households away from Gamblin ALLRED in 1870.
1859 MO: Apparently T. J.'s first wife has died. He now marries 2nd Louisa LEE (born AR) in Barry County, MO, 8 Sept. 1859.
1861 AR: T. J.'s son John A. PIERCE born AR. On 16 July 1882, John A. will take out a marriage license to wed Mary E. Campbell, dau of Mrs. E. Campbell. Either they don't marry or Mary dies because John A. PIERCE in 1888 declares himself single. Later he marries Mrs. Nancy NEIGHBORS in Independence County, AR.
1864 MO: T. J.'s daughter Tranquilla Catherine PIERCE born MO. (Seems like the family spent a little time in AR and then moved back to MO.) On 20 Jan. 1881, Catherine will marry John G. MORROW, son of Mary H. MORROW (widow in 1880) Barry County, MO. The MORROWs were from TN.
1866 MO: T. J.'s daughter Mary F. PIERCE born MO. I cannot find a marriage record for her.

1888 MO: On Sept. 30, 1888, two months after he signs consent papers for daughter Louisa M. to marry, Thomas J. PIERCE born KY dies in Barry County, MO. From Oct. 1888 to Jan. 1889 there is a sudden flurry of land sales as the heirs sell off their undivided one-eighth interest each in the property of the deceased Thomas J. PIERCE. In nearly every case the buyer is W. L. COMBS, possibly T. J.'s neighbor in 1880 Wesley L. COMBS. On 28 Aug. 1889 Thomas J. PIERCE's widow Louisa (LEE) PIERCE marries Jacob Tomlinson in Barry County.
1890 MO: March 20, 1890, John G. MORROW files suit against the estate of Thos. J. PIERCE for $46.25.
In the early 1900s T. J.'s son James M. PIERCE and wife Catherine move from AR to Hood County, TX. Their daughter Alice Nora PIERCE marries Franklin Price COLE in Independence County, AR, 1884, and they move permanently to Fannin County, TX. Thomas J. PIERCE and wife Catherine "Kate" RYAN (both blind when they die in the 1920s) finally move to Avoca, TX, to live with their daughter Linnie Belle (PIERCE)WEEKS, wife of Benjamin F. WEEKS.
