You are correct in saying the family was originally from South Carolina, Barnwell County; however, John and Mary Eliza Jordan had only one daughter, Elizabeth, b. Jan 1815 in Barnwell County, SC. The rest of their children were born in Baker County, GA.
A cousin of mine, back in early 1980s had a letter from Missouri Mills, writing to her brother, James Pinckney Jordan, who lived in Tyler County, Texas. The letter return address was Millvill, Ga or Millville, Ga. I believe Baker County, Ga had a Millvill, Ga and another Millvill existed around Macon, Ga. The Jordans liveed in or near Milford, Ga, which was earlier called Mills Ford.
It appears only Mary Anne and Missouri remained in Georgia. One brother, John Daniel, moved to Henry County, Ala and the rest migrated through Henry County, Alabama to first settle in Tyler County, Texas. My line, Ambrose Pelham Jordan, did not leave Tyler County, Texas until after 1870 and migrated to adjoinging Hardin County, Texas.
I have not researched John Mills, Jr. in South Carolina.
Thank you for the tip.
