Hi Jo, I took a look at William's death record at familysearch.org It shows he died Feb. 13, 1891 and was aged 63 years 11 months and 17 days I went to the age calculator online to find his birth date and it comes up as Feb. 27, 1827 I have tried to find his parents and there is one possible - you said his father was born in NC and on death record his name is shown as William. In 1850 census for Champaign Co. IL there is a William Dobson, age 54, born NC with wife Elizabeth, age 54, born NC He is indexed as William Dobson but in brackets it says William Henry Dobson I see next door to them is a possible son James L. Dobson, age 23, born Indiana so that does seem like it could be right family. James is married with wife Emily 23, and children James 3, and William 2. Emily and children all born IL I'm having a hard time finding any of them later on. I cannot tell if this is the right family but thought it might be something you could look into ? Carolyn L
