I saw the Civil War pension for John E. Davis who married Laura Hess. I got his pension by accident when I was doing research at the National Archives in Wash. D.C. I don't think it's misfiled, they just pulled the wrong one. John E. Davis was in the 1st Mich. Eng's. He died at Nashville, Tn of typhoid fever. He left behind 3 minor children--Flora Ann, John, and Ella Loretta. Anyone wanting the info. from the file, contact me privately at janice8@comcast.net I have no connection to this Davis family.
