Hello Again Joe,
To answer your questions about me, I was born in Niles. We lived on M-60 W until I was 12. Dad had been in business with two other men in Custom Garage in Niles. He left there and became a service manager at a dealership in Baroda. In 1960, he sold out everything and we took and trip around the country. Went ot AZ to see his sister, Lillie. We came back and settled in South Bend, then to Mishawaka. Him and Mom was going to divorce but reconsiled. We bought another home on the corner of Ironwood and Redfield in Niles. I was a sophomore in HS and eventually graduated from Brandywine HS, Niles. He contracted cancer and passed in 1967. I went out on my own and eventually met my 1st husband, John Landrum, from Mishawaka, and we married in 1969 at my mother's sisters home on W. State St. in Cassopolis (Jack and Pearl(Smith) Spaulding) They had half raised me so Cass was my second home. I had my four children. We divored in 1997 and a year later I met my second husband, Gordon Wagner. His home was in MN so I was there for almost 7 years. We divorced in 2005 and I returned home to Mishawaka where my daughters live. I work for a privately owned company in Granger that transports special needs children and adults to and from school or work. I drive a special need bus. Over all I have been driving professionally for 12 years. Drove bus in MN. My life in a few paragraphs..LOL
Preston married Lula Brannock. Fred Smith married Millie Day. Fred and Millie are buried in Reames Norton. I did get out to Schaffer Cemetery and took some pictures of the stones. Hannah Lincoln Hayden Smith is buried in Reames with Joseph G. She passed in 1885. The inscription on the stone says she was partnered with Hiram Smith. Hiram was buried with his second wife, Alfretta in Schaffer. I can assume you knew all of this. Seems he was married 4 or 5 times and passed in Vandalia at the home of himself and his last wife.
I figure you found out that Samuel J Lincoln was Hannah's father. He married Diana Brown. They also had a son Bela Lincoln and his obit told a lot of that familys history. Yeah, they was around Vandalia area. After Samuel J's death in 1837 Diana remarried( I have his name somewhere but it isnt in my tree yet) Have to get that in there too. All those folks was Quakers and the records are no doubt in the Friends Church in Vandalia but they are tight with them records. I need to get up there and see if there is someone I could talk to.
I don't know that Joseph G had a brother Plary. I can't find anything that truly ties them together. There were so many Joseph's and James in those days. In Noah's son's (George)obit all it mentions is his parents and a couple nephews and a brother-in-law. Doesn't mention brothers. Dang!! I looked for Plary in the Historical Library but to no avail.
I wondered if there were Hayden families in Cass that were not related but I honestly don't think so. But maybe.
Ok, now I can put you in my tree now that I know who your parents and grandparents were. You forgot to mention who you married so I can put her in too. Its funny that Wayne Clark worked at the Ford Garage in Cass as a salesman and eventually married William B's girl Stella. They both passed in Dowagiac in 1973 within days of each other. I don't know that you and I have ever met face to face, but it would be nice to meet you. I work M-F so I can get up there on Saturdays. Love coffee..I will assume you live in Cassopolis.
Sorry for the length but families are so large and so interesting. I love the research. Thx.
