Hi there I have the original wedding certificate of Joseph John Merrifield. He was my mother-in-laws Grandfather I believe. Considering its age it is amazingly clear. On it are the following details: 1862 Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of Portsea in the County of Southampton. No 367 - December 16th - Joseph John Merrifield, Louisa Jane Hatcher - Both aged 21 - Bachelor and Spinster - Rank/ Profession - Joiner - Residence: Clifton St - Fathers: Nathanial Merifield and Francis Hatcher, Professions: Joiner and Coachman - Witnesses were Dinah and Robert Sampson. (Sampson was the name of my mother in laws mother) - If you want to me to scan and send u a copy of the document I have I will need your email. I would be intrigued to see where we fit into your tree as I have only just started on the Merrifields, having spent the last five years working on my own maiden name, and my married name, Woodford and Lowe. I am looking forward to really getting stuck into my mother in laws tree as she has been nagging me for ages to! lol I look forward to hearing from you Kind Regards Emma Lowe |
