Can someone reading this advise me. I live in FL so can't do hands-on research in ME! My greatgrandmother, whom I knew as a child, has many names. She was apparently born in NS, married in NB and had at least two children there (maybe as many as five) before ending up in Canton, ME. Her marriage application name was Ursule Hebert; her name on her children's birth records is Helene Hebert; her Americanized name was Lucy. On her children's marriage applications she appears as Lucy Abbott and Lucy Hebert. I have also seen is as Hubbard.

She married Robert Pitre who is traceable and from Price Edward Island. In the US he was called Robert Peters.

My mystery is who was Helene Hebert Pitre/Peters? If I can find some death record on her it may list her parents. Trouble is, I don't know when she died or is buried (although the Babb Families of America, p 361, shows Canton, ME for them). If I can find out what name she died under (!!) I may be able to unravel this puzzle.

In order to get death records, I have to know when she died. Is anyone doing volunteer lookups that can help me?

thank you
