Does anyone have anywhere in their McSORLEY family trees a MONTAGUE woman who married during the 19th century, almost certainly in Ireland, anyone with the surname McSORLEY? The reason I ask is very simple: a person called Bridget McSORLEY (plus three other people with various surnames & five MONTAGUEs) claimed in 1905 in the High Court in Ireland to be the lawful nephews and nieces of my great-grandfather, Francis MONTAGUE (born Ballygawley 1815-died Twickenham 1893). From this I deduce that Francis must have had a sister or a niece who married a McSORLEY. Francis' father, my great-great-grandfather, was another Francis MONTAGUE, a merchant, of Dungannon, according to his son's 1858 marriage certificate, but I know nothing more of his family . . . Hoping against hope . . . . |
