I have William Grifton McMurray as one of 11 children of E. Samuel McMurray and Elizabeth Williams. William was listed as age 5 in E. Samuel's household in the Polk District of Rutherford Co. in 1850. In 1860 he was listed as "Griffon," age 15, still in E. Samuel's household. I have tried to link E. Samuel McMurray to one of the two Rutherford Co. NC McMurray families - Samuel, who died in 1803 or William, who died in 1811, but have not been able to make a connection.
