As far as I can tell, I don't speak French because my ancestor Wilfred Lavoie (b. 1852, Quebec) moved to Kenora, Ontario & married Mary Anne McKeon (b. 1860, Birkshire, Scotland). My great grandfather was on of their children, and I suspect that is where my branch of the family lost the French language. What I don't know is why he moved to Kenora or anything about Mary Anne.
