Thanks, now I see your thought process.

There are numerous early posts here on GenForum about the 4-5-11 or so brothers McKee who came from Ireland and some went one way and another and then in the early 1750s others went to the Rockbridge / Augusta vicinity. I believe they first show up in Chalkley's in 1752. Two of the brothers are excused from the poll tax or some such because they were not present the prior year. (I will not call given names from memory but that data is readily available from numerous sources I think.)

Is it also correct these were believed to be sons of Hugh McKee who is reported as one of the four brothers in Ireland?

I believe I have a copy of a letter / military orders sending Alexander McKee to Fort DuQuesne (my recall of spelling here may be in error) from that area of VA. I would have to look that copy up. It was shared with me by Frank McKee a few years ago. Of course, Alexander McKee was also a JP in that area of VA at some early date. So it is safe to say he was also in the vicinity early on.

All the common given names for these McKee are found in both areas you mention........just as they are found in many other areas.........these folks all walked every where they went unless they were on horseback or the occasional wagon once the trails were widened.

What is needed since you are the person walking around in one of the actual grave yards in the very space we are speaking of over two hundred years later are facts. (Even info regarding reports of graves being moved which I think I have read about-perhaps reported by yourself) Perhaps you could share the info from the McKee tombstones and the official records where you have found McKee in your area. You are bound to have come across a bounty of official documents which include McKee facts. In order to prove your subjects of interest perhaps you have documented the McKee. Please share this data with us here on this McKee Forum.
