6. JAMES3 WHITESIDE (WILLIAM2, SAMUEL1) was born Bef. 1715 in Probably Ireland, and died 1761 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He married ANN Est. 1735. She was born 1711, and died December 13, 1777 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

It seems likely that James was living in Philadelphia at the time. 1747 Mar. 1 Survey James Whiteside, survey for warrant dated 15 Aug. 1746, warrant issued in Philadelphia on that date. 1751 June 2 Baptism Rebekka Whitesides, born 16 May 1735, daughter of James and Margery Whitesides baptized in Philadelphia as an adult (see 1735); Adult Christening recorded in Christ Church and St. Peters, Philadelphia. William R. Whiteside, historian for the Whiteside Family Association has done considerable research on this family in North Carolina. It appears that the widow Ann married John Giles after James' death and the entire family removed from Pennsylvania to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
