Isabella McDonald the wife of Daniel Cameron, was born February 24 1875 the daughter of John McDonald, gamekeeper and Eliza Fraser. In the 1881 census she is staying Blairconnard, Fort Augustus with Alick McDonald 1 year, Margaret McDonald 4 years, James (Dallys) McDonald 8 years, Ewen McDonald 10 years. Her parents John (40 ) and Eliza (34), give their places of birth respectively as Fort Augustus, and Eliza at Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. In the 1891 census we now have John and Eliza with their children, Ewan (20) James (18), Maggie (13) Alexandrina (11) Lizzie ( 8) Donald (5) and Johanne (3). Daniel ( Donald) Cameron, Seaman, aged 25, marries Isabella McDonald 21 years, on 21 April 1896 at 3 Celt StreetInverness. Donald or “ Dan” worked on a the British Waterways Board boat that plied the canal. The boat was the MV Scot 1. Neil, Lizzie, Donald ( Dan) John, Margaret, Angus, James, Alan, Ewen, and Catherine are born of this union at Wood Cottage Fort Augustus. In Scotland Dan and Donald are interchangeable and an enumerator might use either name. Does anyone recognise or have anymore information on the family's of the family of Donald & Isabella? |
