It very well could be the same Alexander, however, without looking at it and seeing the context, i couldn't say for certain. My Alexander's father was George McCown b. abt 1710 in Ireland (he was one of the original brothers who came from Ireland), and his father was Alexander, b. 1681 (see what i mean about the names?? It can be maddening haha!) Is there a way to find this information online? (The land deeds info, i mean). i subscribe to ancestry.com, would i be able to locate it there, or is it something i have to go to the library for? At any rate, i know when i started all this research about 10 years ago, i had absolutely no idea how huge the McCown name would turn out to be, and sometimes it's like looking for a needle in a haystack! But the fun is in finally solving those mysteries, and figuring out just who is who and where they're from. :) Here's my ancestry- Me> my mom, Julia L. Gathings> Joshua Wilson McCown/Martha Shapard> Alexander McCown/Susannah Uncel> George McCown/Catherine Adams> Alexander McCown/???> James McCoun/Mary Adams....i could go on, but that's where things start getting a little more sketchy, and less reliable because i don't have much proof. But it's nice to have another "cousin" researching! :)
