That last posting of mine sounded a little abrupt. What I meant is that I have a lot more information about this family but my genealogy program won't do text reports, so I have to cut and paste to post on-line. This is fine for a paragraph or two, but a real pain for anything beyond that. I will be happy to send you a GEDCOM or a print out of my information if you contact me directly. I have a question about the relationship between James McCaleb Sr. and John McCaleb Jr. Many internet sites list James Sr. of Hickman Co. as James II and his son James as III rather than as James Jr. This implies that James Sr.'s father was a James, not a John. My John McCaleb Jr. was actually listed as Jr on the 1820 census. This certainly is a good indication that there was/had been a John Sr. -- most likely his father. I have gone back and forth on whether James Sr. and John Jr. were brothers or uncle and nephew. If they were uncle and nephew, James Sr and John Sr could have been brothers with a father named James. Do you have any insight on this ? Janice
