Samuel Otterson MAYES (son of Anthony MAYES and Cynthia OTTERSON) was born in 1834 in Greene Co., Alabama.1 He died on 22 Apr 1882 in Newton Co., Mississippi. Samuel and his wife Mary were charter members of Newton Presbyterian Church, Newton Co., Mississippi. He was married to Mary Susan BOUCHILLON (daughter of John T. BOUCHILLON and Elizabeth DOOLITTLE ) on 10 Apr 1854. Mary Susan BOUCHILLON was born on 24 May 1834. She died on 28 Apr 1873 in Newton Co., Mississippi. Samuel Otterson MAYES and Mary Susan BOUCHILLON had the following children: +2 i. Mary Emma MAYES. +3 ii. Ada Elizabeth MAYES. +4 iii. Ellen Gray MAYES. 5 iv. Mary Emma MAYES was born on 24 Jan 1855 in Greene Co., Alabama. She was married to Samuel McCully ADAMS on 8 Jul 1874 in Newton Co., Mississippi. 3. Ada Elizabeth MAYES was born on 15 May 1857 in Greene Co., Alabama. She was married to Thomas Solitaire GIDDENS (son of James Thomas GIDDENS and Martha Jane PAUL ) on 26 Feb 1880 in Newton Co., Mississippi. Thomas Solitaire GIDDENS was born on 9 Jun 1857.2 He died on 30 Apr 1935 in Houston, Texas.2 He was buried in Yoakum, Lavaca Co., Texas.2 Ada Elizabeth MAYES and Thomas Solitaire GIDDENS had the following children: 7 i. Thomas Alexander SHEPHERD was born on 6 May 1853 in Hickory, Newton Co., Mississippi. He died after 1922 in Hickory, Newton Co., Mississippi. Emma Izora TILLMON was born on 13 Dec 1876 in Macon, Georgia. She died on 8 Feb 1959 in Conehatta, Mississippi. She was buried in Crossroads Church Cemetery, Newton Co., Mississippi.
