Hi!

I have 2 possible connections to MATNEY/MATTINGLY. Richard DAVID's dau, Nancy DAVID, married Uriah MATTINGLY in Hardin County KY in early 1800s. He was son of Clement MATTINGLY. Uriah & Nancy (DAVID) MATTINGLY moved to either Brown or Bartholomew COunty IN by 1830. However, they had changed their surname to MATNEY. Do you have any info on why this happened. I have read that several children of Clement MATTINGLY changed their surname to MATNEY. I find that very interesting. Thought maybe you could shed some light on that. Their descendants eventually moved to Arknasas, Carroll County I think.

Also, my sister is married to Charles McFARLAND. His mother's maiden name was Chloe Pearl HOUSE and her parents' names were Laura Eleanor MATNEY (29 Sep 1867 - 13 May 1925)and James H. HOUSE (10 April 1874 - 12 Oct 1949). They both died in Howell or Oregon County MO. James HOUSE was son of Hollingsworth HOUSE & Eliza WEAVER. I have traced the HOUSE family back to Germany in very early 1600s. If you have any info on either of these situations, would love to hear from you and will anything that I have that is of interest. Good luck with your hunting! My wife is not a genealogy buff. She says that all we do is confuse the dead and irritate the living!
