In the 1782-1785 will of John Marshall of Mecklenburg County he names a granddaughter: “...Item I give unto my Granddaughter Mary Ingram one Negroe wench named Sarah and all her Children and increase to her and her heirs forever..." I'm guessing (in fact I will bet good money on it) that Mary Ingram was a daughter of John's daughter Lucy who married 1) George Carter, 2) George Malone, and is almost certainly - the way I figure it - a daughter of Lucy and George Carter. Has anyone been able to identify her? Is she (surely she is) the same Polly Hodges who Lucy names in her 1819-1821 will as her daughter? I would appreciate any help in finding some information about Mary (Carter?) Ingram-Hodges. |
