I have been unable to place your Rebecca with any of the the Chatham or Randolph Co Marley families. Also I do not locate Crutchfield in the index of my Marley family book. In all probibility she is a descendant of either William Marley and Catherine Campbell or Benjamin and Rachel Marley. You probably already know all of this but I will run throught it anyway. My reasoning is as follows. Four Marley families were in Chatham and Randolph counties, NC, in the late 1790s. The were Henry, John, William, and Benjamin. Two other Marley families were in NC in the asme time frame. Benjamin in Edgecombe Co. and Adam Marley and his Children in the Orange and Guilford Counties. Of the four in Chatham and Randolph area. Henry and John and their families left the area and went to Wilkes Co., NC about 1800. By 1820 they had moved to Lawrence Co., IN. That leaves Benjamin and William in the area. Benjamin died 1815 and had four sons (Thomas, Benjamin, John, and Jesse) and two daughters (Mary and Elizabeth) identified in his will He also identified a grandaughter (daughter of a son William that died prior to Benjamins death. The children of the two oldest living sons (Thomas and Benjamin) appear to be properly identified. The younger of the four sons were born 1806 and 1808 so they may be too young but their children also appear to be identified. This leaves William and Catherine. He died 1794 but none of his sons are KNOWN to have a daughter Rebecca. The Guilford/Orange Marley family is also a possibility. I have been unable to connect your Rebecca with either group.
Logic would say that she surely deacends for William or the Adam family group.

I cover all six of these families in my book "Marley Families of North Carolina." The fact that I have not located them DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS NO CONNECTION. If she was born 1820 in Chatham County she would certainly appear to be connected to one of these families.

I have rambled on but not sure I have helped you at all. Let me know if this has helped and if it is new information for you. If you have more information on Rebecca let me know and I will try again. For instance do you know where she married or where she died?

Look forward to hearing from you.
