In the 1890 Veterans Census for New Jersey Herman L. Maddox (listed as Harmon or Harman Maddox) was living in Ocean Grove, Monmouth County. Unfortunately his military service was not listed, but I suspect that he may have been the Herman L. Maddox who served in the Confederate Army with the 16th Virginia Infantry. For the 1880 Census he was living in Stonewall, Virginia and for the 1900 Census he was living in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. He was born in February of 1846 in wither Kentucky or Virginia.
