I want to thank you for the information about Phineas Lyman. I come from both the Lyman family and the Dwight family. The Major Timothy Dwight mentioned in the article was the brother of Samuel Dwight who I come from. The Major Timothy Dwight was the father of Eleanor Dwight who married Phineas Lyman. Thaddeus Lyman was Phineas' son and he is buried in West Suffield, CT.
From a Dwight genealogy, it states the land was Phineas' to begin with. His second son inherited the land and left his wife and children in Suffield to aquire the land.Thaddeus Lyman died of a sickness in 1812 on a ship coming back from MS. heading toward CT.
The land was aquired by Post Master Granger finally.
