I am interested in learning more about Dwight Lyman Moody, the Evangelist who came from Northfield, Mass. (presently Franklin, I believe). He began the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and founded the Moody Memorial Church, too.
What I am curious about is his connection to the LYMAN family. Why did he not go by "Ryther"??? Where did the LYMAN name come from? I realize that there was a family by this name. Was he related to them? I see that there was a Josiah MOODY who married a Dorcas LYMAN, many years prior to D.L.'s time.
I am related to D.L. MOODY via the HOLTON family. I am a direct descendant of William HOLTON through the KING family through the GUNN family.
I have been surprised not to find more information on Mr. MOODY. And, perhaps, I just haven't searched the web enough. Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
All the best,
East Lansing, MI
