I'm glad to see you and Joyce are trying to solve this Lusk mystery together. Iwas looking at some of the info I had shared with you earlier, and I still think your Reece Estill is the son of Crockett Lusk.
David Lusk and Chloe Bailey:
Then, Eli Lusk and Elizabeth Bailey:
Then Reece T. Lusk and Elizabeth Morgan:
Then: Crockett Lusk and Clarissa ?
According to the Wyoming co 1880 census;
Huffs Creek, page 7&8:
Crockett and Clarrissa had twins:
Elvira age 4 and Estill age 4.
Chances are, with Crockett the oldest son of Reece T. Lusk, Estill's name was Reece Estill Lusk: his birth year is very close to your gr grandfathers. They are not in Wyoming Co by 1900, prob. moved to Mercer Co.
Why your Estill Lusk said he was an orphan may always be a mystery, but Crockett and Clarissa had 5 children. Maybe some died and others moved away. Hope we can help you solve your mystery. We need someone to check death records in Wyoming and Mercer Co to see if when siblings of Estill Lusk died and esp. when Crockett and Clarissa died or were they in the group of Luck that moved to Missouri.
Now we also have to consider Absalom Lusk, the brother to Eli Lusk:
Absalom married Delia Bailey: this family did relocate to Missouri:
Absalom names his children with the names you mentioned were in your fathers family:
David, Alfred Estill, Reect T., Hiram T., and Lain S. Lusk:
Lain S. Lusk, (b) March 3, 1840, Mercer Co VA, (d) Mar 1, 1894: married Susan P Casey. They died in Cedar Co MO. This information provided by Diane Crum McLean.
You have to descend from this line of Lusk, we just haven't put all the pieces together.
Keep searching, and good luck
