This is Tim Dollens again of Columbia, Missouri. I have been searching on my Chick family lately and have found three more "proofs" of children of Silas Chick who married the two Annies. The three definate children are: Robert Chick who married China Ann Burch. Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Chick who married Joseph Vliet and my great great grandfather Wade Netherland Chick who married Arabella Wilson. A fourth I also believe is a son of Silas Chick is Langford Chick. All four of these Chick children of Silas were in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois by 1850 or 1860. Wade Netherland Chick was living with Robert Chick and his wife China in 1850. Wade later removed to Boone County, Missouri where he married Arabella Wilson in 1866. They settled in Audrain County, Missouri. Robert stayed in the Springfield, MO area as well as did Mary Elizabeth (Chick). However, Mary Elizabeth and her husband relocated in Chicago, IL. Langford Chick married Sarah Catherine Perkins and died in 1861. He is buried in Springfield, IL in the same cemetery that Abe Lincoln is buried in. I don't have proof that he is a son of Silas, but one of Mary Elizabeth's grandsons have the middle name "Langford". He also fits the profile of being a son of Silas.
Wade Netherland Chick was apparently the only child of Silas Chick and his second wife Mrs. Annie Lusk who married in 1840. Wade was born in 1841 in Kentucky. His death certificate says his father is Silas Chick. His first daughter's name was Annie Commelia Chick. I believe that Anna Lusk was a widow of Benjamin Lusk and her maiden name is actually Annie or Ann Faddis. A marriage of Benjamin Lusk to Annie Faddis is in Knox County, Kentucky circa 1830. Ironically, living less than two miles from Wade Netherland Chick and Arabella Wilson Chick in Audrain County, Missouri is that of Blakely Faddis who came from Knox County, KY before coming to Missouri. I believe Blakely is an uncle or great uncle of Wade and the reason he moved to Missouri.
It makes sense that Wade would be living with his older half brother. Incidently, Robert's obit lists Mary Vliet as his surviving sister. I have done quite a bit of research on the Chicks who moved to Springfield, MO and to Boone County, Missouri. Would love to correspond with others who are Silas Chick descendants.
