This is an old posting, but here is what I know.
There were two men named Samuel Lusk (father and son) in Burk Co., NC, near the present location of Morganton. Samuel Sr. also had a dau named Martha, who md Joseph White. Joseph and Martha are my g4grandparents. Joseph White, not to be confused with your Whiteside antecedents, was a captain in the Burke militia and fought at Kings Mtn, along with Samuel Lusk. One or both of the Samuel's and probably Martha, moved to Amite, MS around 1790. A Samuel Lusk, I'm not sure which of the two, had a land grant on Silver Creek. I have stood on the edge of this plot and took a picture. I an away from home, but can give more specific info next week if you are interested.
I think we may have corresponded before.
