Murray A. Lothrop Auburn – Murray A. Lothrop, 71, of Auburn, passed away on October 26th, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewiston on June 2, 1936 the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Wardwell) Lothrop. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Varney, on September 24, 1955. He worked for HP Hood, Prudential Insurance, and finally retiring from Atlas Supply of Lewiston. He was an avid gardener, which he enjoyed sharing with his neighbors and friends. He was a member of the First Universalist Church of Auburn where he was Cub Master for Pack III, member of the Board of Directors, and also a member of the Men’s Club. He was also very active with the Knucklebuster Motor Club where he held offices as President and Vice President. Murray knew from experience why it’s called Knucklebusters as he enjoyed working on his antique cars, many times hitting his knuckles. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 52 years Jackie, together they raised their four sons, Jeffrey and his wife Lise, Daniel and his wife Kathy both of Auburn, Peter and his wife Sherri of Mechanic Falls, Keith and his wife Debbie of Oxford, and one daughter Julie Ann and her husband Steve London of Windham; seven grandchildren Jeremy and his wife Lisa, Alan and his wife Maria, Christeena, Cassandra, and Brian Lothrop, Kyle, and Ashley Welch; great grandchildren Alexis and Nicolas; sisters Penny O’ Brien of Poland, Virginia of MA; brother Arthur Cass and his wife Elaine of Auburn; brothers in law Richard and Barbara Varney of Norway, Bill and Val Varney of Detroit, ME; father in law G. Edward Varney of Auburn; and sister in law Ruth Keeler of Tacoma, Wa. He was predeceased by an infant son Murray Jr. in 1961, parents, and mother in law Florence Varney. |
