Thomas, There are no listings in the online phone book for Lithuania for a surname beginning "Balko-" but there are several for folks named Balkunas, so my guess would be that that is what the surname probably is. The endings for women's names change a little depending on their marital status. A woman married to a man named Balkunas would be Mrs. Balkuniene; their unmarried daughter would be Miss Balkunaite. Because Lithuania, like most European countries, has seen significant migration patterns both internal and external, it is often difficult and by no means certain to link a surname to a specific location.
