Jack, Thanks for the information about Mayo, Md, a place name that has somehow escaped me until now. And I missed your message that explained who Jane Baldwin Cotton was. So, do you think this book has enough information about my Sanders and Chambers families to be worth purchasing? Or, if not much material, would you mind sharing the information with me? Do you think that the Sanders family or the Chambers family might have been related to the Linthicums? From the deeds that I have found, it seems possible. I haven't been able to find a maiden name for James Sanders' wife Rebecca, for instance, nor do I have any clue at all as to his parents or Samuel Chambers' parents. I am interested in the Mayo name because it surfaces later in Edgecombe/Pitt NC in my Thigpen/Hall family. I wonder if it is the same family line. Many of my family lines, both maternal and paternal, come from early Maryland, all converging in Emanuel Co Ga by the 1800's. On my mother's side in particular, we have very little information past my 2gt or 3gt grandparents from these families - which include Hall, Rowell, Robinette, as well as Chambers, with Maryland origins, though actually the Rowell and Robinette lines are traced back pretty far, if accurate. As to my maternal line - Thompson - my 3great-grandfather Lt Reubin Thompson was born in 1765 in NC, but his family origins are yet to be determined for sure. Reubin married Rachel Chambers, who is the descendant of Samuel Chambers and Anne Sanders. It has been really nice to be able to finally learn something of her family history.
