Greetings- I have been recently motivated to do extensive research into the life and achievements of J. Charles Linthicum. I have created a web page to keep track of my research thus far. It still needs a few important documents which are being transcribed but is in most complete. If anyone has anything to add I will give credit as due but be sure that all information is sourced. J. Charles was notable for his work toward the abolishment of prohibition which more than any of his other achievements dominated his obits and newspaper coverage. He is also responsible for legislation which he pursued on behalf of one of his constituants which recognized the Star Spangled Banner as the National Anthem. However he is also credited with many other fine achievements via his role as chairman of the house foreign relations committee which are also more significant for some than his work with the flag recognition. A fascinating character. I am also seeking information in regard to his first wife. So a few grey areas left to fill in. Many thanks for any and all help in advance. Here is the web page...again it is under construction but may be of use as is. http://mysite.verizon.net/cbladey/jcharleslinthicum/jcharleslinthicum.html Conrad Bladey cbladey@verizon.net |
