Dear Liz, there are several published presidential genealogies that describe Elizabeth Light of radway grange, Warwick, George Washingtons 4th great grandmother. Elizabeth Light was the last of that branch of Lights. However, Sir Henry Maxwell Lyte's article on the Lytes of Lytescary describes a coat of arms used by both families. Probably all Lights from the Somerset-Gloucester area are distantly related. The Lights that came into Virginia with the Washingtons are from the Lytescary branch not Warwick. Ann Barber, a servant of the Washingtons was transported to Virginia by the Lights. Both the Washingtons and some of the Lytescary Lytes settled in the Norhern Neck in the same period so they probably knew each other well. Steve Light.
