According to some old genforum postings by Steve Light, there was a Captain William Light (Lyte) owner of St. Kitts plantation Henrico Co. Virginia and plantations in Barbados in 1640. It is assumed that this William is b: 1606 son of Sir Thomas Lyte and Frances Worth of Lytes Cary Somerset England. This would not be the father John Light of Halifax, but possibly a relative. I have not found definitive proof of the father of John Light of Halifax but our family history says that John's father was also John b: 1696 and grandfather was George b: 1676 and great-grandfather George b: 1626. If anyone has documentation for any of the above, I would like to hear.
