I did some searching today to try and find a link with your Jesse Light and my Michael Light. This is what i have so far.
I found two brothers John and Vachel who served in the American Revolution. John served in NC and Vachal served in VA. which was in close proximity. The pension applications both have them living in Tn. John was in Hawkins county and Vachal in Sullivan county adjoining Hawkins. (I copied these documents.
Their father was William Light. William also had other children. All were named in his Will dated 25 Sep 1817. His wife Patience was mentioned as well as the following children: Sons, Vachael, John, William, George, Wright, Joshua, Michael, and Jacob. His daughter's were Patience Mullins, Susannah Rice, Elenor Light and Prudence Morelock. Jacob was his youngest son and he inherited the farm. I believe this is the same Jacob that is my Michael's father. The writer thinks Vachel was the oldest.
I have more details from the book " The history of Hawkins County" but cannot type it all in this message. The writer mentioned that several of the sons moved to Missouri. It is possible as I read through the pages I copied that I might come across more info that could help determine if your Jesse was a son of one of those mentioned above. Sometimes the name Jesse could also be a nickname for another "J" name. Contact me at my email address if you want more details or can give me any that I could piece together with mine.
