I just want to remind everyone with Light family ties of our annual family reunion in Llano, Texas. It is held Labor Day weekend every year at the Robinson City Park just west of town on Ranch Road 152. The meat and brown beans (pintos) are furnished and is purchased with monies collected from attendees and donations to the Light Reunion fund. Everything else (vegetables, salads and deserts)are prepared and brought to the reunion by family members, friends and visitors who attend. There are three meals: Saturday noon, Saturday evening, and Sunday noon. We usually have an auction Saturday afternoon just before the evening meal so bring anything you wish to donate to be auctioned off to help defray expenses associated with the reunion. There is a dance that follows the Saturday evening meal for the youngsters or young at heart and perhaps some surprises too.
There will be many descendants of George L. Light and Sarah "Sallie" Simpson who came to Texas from Tennessee about 1852 and settled in the Pilgrim community, Gonzales County, Texas. The family of Vach Dillingham Light and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Gibson make up the largest contingent of attendees but we would be delighted to have family members from anywhere in the world so come on and join us on September 1st and 2nd of this year.
Anyone planning to stay overnight at local hotels should make their reservations early
to avoid disappointment. The Robinson City Park has RV accommodations for those who plan to bring their motor homes, travel trailers, etc.
