Hello to anyone out there.... I am helping my fiancee researching her father's family history. My fiancee's paternal grandfather was ANTHONY "TONY" DAVIS, (b. 15 August 1892 in Hardine, Lebanon, died 24 Nov 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA) his funeral was held at McAvoy funeral home, which seems to no longer exist now, as I cannot find any way to contact them. He married JENNIE (NEE ROMAN) DAVIS (b. 1 Jan 1908 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, died 24 Jan 1961 in Millvale, PA), both are buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Homestead, PA. Tony Davis and Jennie Roman had six children: (1) Joseph "Joe", who is 85 and living in southern California now, (2) Theresa "Terri", 80, and living in Pittsburgh area, (3) Francis "Frank", deceased, (4) William "Bill", a taxicab driver in Pittsburgh, deceased in 2000, (5) James "Jim", now 68 and living in Grants Pass, Oregon, and (6) Richard "Richie" of Pittsburgh. Tony Davis' mother was a widowed Mrs. Zenuba Davis (died September 14, 1932 in Pittsburgh), and we were told that the original spelling of the name was "Daibes-Zaher", which the "Zaher" was dropped, and the "Daibes" was later Americanized to "Davis". JENNIE ROMAN (1908-1961)'s parents both were ANTHONY "TONY" ROMAN and MARY (maiden name unknown), both originally of Hardine, Lebanon, first came to U.S. in 1906, to Wilkes-Barre, PA, and then later Millvale-Pittsburgh area which they are listed in 1930 Census for Millvale, Allegheny Co., PA. Jennie's siblings were: Russell (b. ca 1915), George (b. ca 1920), Ruth (b. ca 1922), Josephine (b. ca 1925), Sadie (b. ca 1927), and Joseph (b. ca 1930). Jennie, Russell, George, Ruth, Josephine, Sadie, and Joseph all are deceased. Josephine and Sadie both never married. Both sides came from the village of Hardine in Lebanon and all are Roman Catholics. Would truly appreciate to hear from anyone who would be more than happy to share any information, or especially who are related to the people above.
