I am trying to research my Lebanese heritage and was curious if there are any resources out there to aid in this search? My grandfather's mother (Afify Nichols) was born in Beirut in 1898 and came to the US at the age of 12. She had at least one brother Theodore and one sister Marie.Theodore lived in New Hampshire and Marie married and her last name changed to Khoury and she lived in Boston Mass.
His father (Joseph Abraham) was from Tripoli. My grandfather's sister went to visit family in Lebanon in the early 80's and their last name is Aboud. They sent a letter to her and I now have this letter. It has the address on it but it is very sloppy and the only thing that can be made out is "George Aboud."
Unfortunately, my grandfather is the last surviving sibling and he is 91 and doesn't remember much about family history.
His father died before he was born of the Spanish Flu, leaving his mother with five children. She moved in with her father in Shenandoah and ended up marrying a man by the name of Manuel Martin, a border renting a room from her father. Manuel was a Spaniard and he adopted the children changing their names from Abraham to Martin.
Any information to aid in this search would be wonderful.
