Elizabeth's maiden name was, Washington. She was a daughter of Richard Washington and Elizabeth Bavins.
After Elizabeth's husband, Sampson Lanier died, she
married 2nd, her sister, Priscilla's widower, Robert
Lanier. Robert then died and Elizabeth moved to her
son, James Lanier's home in Pitt Co., N.C. where she
died. Her son, Lemuel Lanier, married (1) Mary Peebles
and had, David, Polly, and Sally. He married (2)
Elizabeth Clark, and had, Washington and Benjamin
Lanier. Lemuel left his Will written in 1785 in
Henry Co., Va.
Richard Washington was the only child of John Washington
and wife, Mary Flood, of Southwark Parish, Surry Co., Va.
Richard had twelve children. Mary Flood was married four
times and died as the wife of Henry Briggs of Surry County,
Va. Henry raised her sons, Thomas Blunt and Richard Washington, along with his and Mary's children. Henry and
Mary had a live-in tutor, John Dykes, to teach the children.
John Washington was a cousin of John Washington of Westmoreland Co., Va. ancestor of Pres. George Washington.
Evelyn
