I am thinking about starting a Lakin DNA project at http://www.familytreedna.com/surname.aspx . My husband is involved with it for his genealogy research... basically, the Y chromosome follows the surname father-to-son unbroken along with the last name (assuming all the women are honest, of course). If I start the project, I need to do so soon while my father is still living... although he probably has many good years left, he didn't leave any sons and he didn't have any brothers so you never know. Is anybody else here interested in starting up such a project? It will be totally useless if I'm the only one submitting DNA!!
