Hi Taylor. That was a very sweet story of your memories of your grandmother. It brought back a memory for me. I remember my father telling me to go "do-do", (long o) by which he meant "dormir", or to go to sleep, in French. Coucher also means to lay down in French, and go to sleep. Undoubtedly you are part French Creole, descendants of French who migrated to Louisiana.

Did your grandmother live in Texas? I found some birth records for some of her children at Familysearch.org - a free site!:
