Looking for ANY information on these two people, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant the detail or story. These people were my great grandparents from Vernon Parrish, Louisiana. Wm. Bartley 1880-1969 and Minnie Evelyn was 1887-1967.
Their daughter, Etta Bernice Smith Bagwell 1926-1996 was my beloved grandmother and one of her sisters, Erma Rae Smith Perkins was a cherokee registered with the Four Winds Tribe in Leesville, LA....that native american connection is the part I'm specifically looking into. Who was the native american before her? Where is the proof? Where are the pictures? Who has the stories?
I have no clue if this will help but these are two things I've been told: Wm. Bartley was supposedly a mean spirited man and was nicknamed "Black Bart" because of it. Minnie Evelyn was supposedly a devote penecostal woman and wore her hair very long.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I've been researching this specific aspect for 30 years now.
