Dr. H.B. Hiern lived in the St. Francisville / Bayou Sara area in the 1820s into the 1840s. He seemed to have had numerous real estate transactions. He managed the plantation interests of Sarah Isaacs Jewell across the river in Pointe Coupee after her husband, Benjamin Jewell, died in 1828. In the 1840s he married Maria Jewell, daughter of Sarah and Benjamin Jewell, and apparently moved across the river to Pointe Coupee in the 1840s. According to Maria's brother's succession in 1847, Maria had died without issue by that time. If anyone has information about Dr. Hiern or the Jewells, please contact me. Penny Midboe
