Researching my gr-grandparents, all of Catahoula Parish.

George Z. Briggs (b. Illinois 1823-1887) married Louisa Fowler (b. SC 1828-1883) in Avoyelles Parish in 1843. My gr-grandmother SERENA Q. BRIGGS was #5 of 8 children, born in 1855.

Serena married in Catahoula Parish in December 1877 to Henry Harmon Nichols, also born around 1855 in Louisiana.

Later, my grandfather (Lewis Franklin "Frank" Nichols) married Mary Louise Paul. Mary's parents were Tolbert Paul and Madeleine Bettevy, who was from Avoyelles Parish originally. Tolbert's parents were Samuel Paul and Mary Laprairie.

Here are my questions and/or items to prove:

1. I suspect highly that George Z. Briggs was the son of Zara Briggs, son of Zadock Briggs of Washington County, Ohio (originally from Massachusetts).

2. Who were Louisa Fowler Briggs' parents? They are not mentioned in her marriage license to George - were they deceased at that time?

3. Who were Henry Harmon Nichols' parents? Did he have a connection with Henry Harmon of Catahoula Parish?

4. Mary Laprairie Paul's father was Emanuel Paul. Who was her mother?

Any help with any of these dilemmas would be appreciated!
