I need a look-up on Capt. Alles mentioned in Volume 20, Winter 2004, No. 2 of, THE GENEALOGIST, published by the Nelson Co Genealogy Society -I think.
I recently found a reference to Capt. John Jacob Alles in connection with the 1862 Battle of Perrysville. The name is similar to Johan Jacob Alles my Palatine ancestor who arrived Philadelphia in 1749. Over the years the spelling was changed to Ellis in my branch of the family and Abraham Ellis & Jacob Ellis, sons of Johan Jacob Alles were members of the Lancaster, PA Militia during the Revolutionary War. Abraham's grandson, Abraham Ellis was known as "Bullet Hole" Ellis after being shot in the forehead by William C. Quantrill during the Civil War. Enter "Bullet Hole" Ellis on Google search line and see the wound. THANKS.
