Gary, I'm a Bloomfield native and try to do a little research on all the old families in that area. There was certainly nobody ANYWHERE in Kentucky before 1775 and probably nobody in the Bloomfield area before 1780. Nelson Co. was formed, as you probably know, in 1785. There is a Benj. Cooper on the 1785 tax list. Thus he may have been on Jefferson Co. records before that date. (Jeff. formed in 1780.) There is also a Benj. Cooper appearing in records at least as late as 1811. He may very well have been in or near what became Spencer Co. in 1824.
Can you give me more details about his children? That might help me to determine something about him.
There is no record of a Benj. Cooper estate settlement through 1835 in the will books. There are no tombstones in the area for a Benj. Cooper.
Can you write to me at patboblex@aol.com?
