Head Tax Lists for Kentucky between the years 1785- 1799 show the following:

Surname,Name/County/Year

Floyd,Thomas/Nelson/1787
Floyd,Thomas/Nelson/1788
Floyd,Thomas/Nelson/1789
Floyd/Thomas/Jefferson/1793
Floyd/Thomas/Nelson/1793

I am a descendant of Thomas Floyd (b. 1763 Va.) who, at about 18 years of age, after having completed three-and-a-half years of service in the Continental Line, was discharged from duty in the Fall of 1781 in Virginia at the Chesterfied County Courthouse. He is next found in the vicinity of Natchez, Mississippi in 1804, 23 years later, around the age of 41.

Finding where Thomas was living during those 23 years is my quest.

I figure that he must have arrived into SW Mississippi via the Cumberland Gap and the Natchez Trace, so I'm backtracking to Virginia (through South Carolina and North Carolina), first at the State level than at the County level, to see if I can discover where it was that he last was living before coming to Adams County, Mississippi.

Surname that could be/ought to be found in the vicinity of wherever he was living are: BRITT, EDDY, HERRING, LEWIS, PAYNE, WATSON and WHITE.

Any ideas/leads will be appreciated. Thank you.
