Mike, Matthew and Jane could not possibly have been born in Nelson Co. There were no settlers there until about 40 years after they were born. Popular opinion is that the first settler was a Pottinger in the southern part of the county in about 1778, although some think the first settlement was somewhat later. People had hardly reached the middle of Virginia by the 1740s. Of course,there were settlers in Nelson Co. while it was a part of Jefferson (formed 1780), but Nelson was not formed as a separate county until 1785. I do not find a record of a marriage between William Rogers and Rebecca McKibben from the time Nelson Co. was formed up through 1832. Are you sure the marriage is supposed to have taken place there?
