In John Filson's book, "The Discovery, Settlement and Present State of Kentucke" pub. 1784, there is the first map of Ky. The Chaplin River is called Chaplain Fork. It is likely named for a man mentioned in the same book(very briefly)-Captain Abraham Chaplain. I have been able to locate Chaplin on a Ky. road map. It is in Nelson co just off of Bluegrass Prkwy. Hope this helps. |
