Hi, I am seeking information on my gg grandparents. George Bartlett b. about 1811 in GA or IA - m. Mahala Goins/Gowens b. abt 1812 and was the daughter of William Goins. They married in Nov. 1832 in Pope County, IL and then moved to Hickman about 1836 or so. Her family evidently was of native american descent at least her father was. There is an affidavit filed by a William Wiggs that indicates that Mahala's father stole a white woman from Tennesee and married her. Took her to Southern IL - Pope County to live and moved back and forth between Hickman and Pope County. Mahala and George both died in 1864 in Hickman..I cannot find any information on George's parents or any additional information on Mahala's...any assistance will be appreciated....
