I am interested in the William Martin age 74 (b.1776) S.C. who appeared in the 1850 census of Christian County, Ky. in Fam.#956, family head a James Martin age 45 and wife Happy age 44. I believe that he (William Martin) was the father of my Jane Martin b. 1806 who was married in Rutherford Co.,1821 to Jonathan Drew. Jonathan & Jane appear in the 1850 census of Bedford co.,TN.
They had a son William Martin Drew b. 1829 Tn. who was also in Christian Co.,Ky. in 1850 and where he got married. I believe he was in Christian county because of his grandfather. I am sure that there were other Drews, perhaps a Thomas in Christian county I haven't found?
In the home of John and Happy the naming of the children include names of Jane (Martin) Drews family. Thered was a Kirby age 15 in John's home and William Martin Drew who later goes to Mt. Vernon (Jefferson Co.,)Illinois names a son with this unusual name ,except in Illinois they mispelled it ,but however did that census did a lot of mis-spelling.
I would love to hear from someone on this.
Thanks.
