Hi Pam,

It took a little research, but we found a Samuel W Gray was a teacher at a one room school, called Hopeful School on what is now Fairlane Dr at age 24. We also found a Wm. Gray teaching there at age 23.

Now, here is the kicker............ we found a picture of he and his class in a magazine called Kentucky Explorer in the February 2006 edition on page 38. We don't have that particular edition ourselves, but Martha (a former teacher, herself) remembered seeing it at the library. So you might try the Pendleton County Hist. Society or the library and get a copy for yourself.

Martha also knows one of your relatives and asked you to call her, Sharon Gray Souders, 635-5849.

Good luck with your further research,
Martha & Jerry
