Hi Mary,

I have seen your posts in a lot of places on the net, when I look for Seibel. I believe you are probably having a lot more success than I am.

I am looking for my GG Grandfather Casper Seibel. Mainly where in Ger/Prussia/Hesse he came from.

On the 1880 census the taker spelled it Sibel. My family insists it has always been Seibel. This Casper Seibel came to Kentucky, fought in the Civil War, and then later went
and died in the old soldiers home in Dayton Ohio. I
don't know if his wife came to the US with him, or if
they married here. I do know they had a young son in
the 1860 census named Conrad. The son had epilepsy and
while having a convulsion fell in a bucket and
drowned. For some reason when I copied the 1860 census
he got left out.

On the census Casper and Catherine state they are born
in Prussia on one and Hesse on the other. Is this the
same area your ancestor came from? Do you by any
chance know anything about these Seibels? I have been
working over 5 yrs on them. Any help would be
greatfully appreciated.

Thank You,
